Meaning of E/e-mark certification

1. Meaning of certification marks

The E-mark is originated from the laws and regulations promulgated by the ECE, which includes 28 countries in Europe. In addition to the EU members, it also includes the countries in eastern Europe, southern Europe and other non-European countries. ECE regulations are recommended for its member states, but not mandatory. Member states can apply ECE regulations, or its own laws and regulations instead. Considering the market demand, ECE member states now are willing to accept the test reports and certificates complying with the regulations of ECE. The E-mark certificate covers the parts and systems, but not cover the certification of complete vehicles. The products with E mark certification are accepted by the market. E-mark certified products include vehicle lamps, safety glass, tires, triangular warning signs, automotive electronic products, etc.

The E-mark certificate of each country bears the corresponding number:

       E1-Germany E2-France E3—Italy E4—Netherlands E5—Sweden E6-Belgium E7-Hungary E8-Czech E9-Spain E10-Yugoslavia E11-British E12-Austria E13-Luxembourg E14-Switzerland E16-Norway E17-Finland E18-Danmark E19-Romania E20-Poland E21-Portugal E22-Russia E23-Greek E25-Croatia E26-Slovenia E27-Slovakia E28-Belarus E29-Estonia E31-Bosnia and Herzegovina E37-Turkey

The e-mark stands for the certification of motor vehicle, safety components and systems mandatory for the EU member states. The e-mark certifies that products are accepted by all the EU member states.

Same as the E-mark, the e-mark certificate of each country bears the corresponding number:

       e1-Germany e2-France e3-Italy e4-Netherlands e5-Sweden e6-Belgium e9-Spain e11-British e12-Austria e13-Luxembourg e17- Finland e18-Danmark e21-Portugal e23-Greek e24-Ireland

2.Forms of certification marks

The e-mark is in the form of a rectangular box, and the E-mark is in the form of a circle box.

The rectangular box refers to the products in normal use when the vehicle is parked and driving, rather than those mandatory parts, such as on-board charger, battery, air pump, heating cushion, fan, electric kettle, refrigerator, coffee pot, audio, electric jack and vacuum cleaners.

The circular box refers to the products imperative when the vehicle is parked and driving, such as windshield, seat belts and headlamps. The numbers 1, 2, and 13 in the box represent the E/e-Mark certificate codes for different EU member. states. For example, 1 represents German, 4 represents Netherlands, and 13 represents Luxembourg, namely the code shows the traffic authorities of member states issuing the E/e-Mark certificate.
