Classification of E/e-mark certification

       There are two type approval systems in Europe.
       The first one is based on the technical requirements of European WP29 system, mainly applicable to vehicle systems and parts, excluding the complete vehicle. Subjected to the test and factory audit carried out according to regulations of ECE, such vehicle systems and parts approved can be issued the E-mark. E-mark certification test is generally carried out by the technical service institutions of ECE member states, and the certificate is issued by the government departments of ECE member states, which evidence that the products can be sold legally in European countries.
       The other one is based on the EU laws, mainly for approval of vehicle systems and parts. After being subjected to testing and factory audit according to the EU directives, such vehicle systems and parts are issued the type approval e-mark. The e-mark certification testing institutions shall be the technical services of EU member states, such as TUV in Germany, UTAC in Netherlands,TNO in France, and CPA in Italy. The issuing agency is the traffic department of EU member government, such as KBA in Germany. The products with the e-mark certificate can be sold legally in the European Union countries.
       The vehicle systems, spare parts and complete vehicles, whether have E/e-mark certification, shall pass the test first. What’s more, the manufacturer’s quality management system shall meet the requirements of ISO9000 standard at least.
